Located within the Heritage Listed Kingsclere Building in the heart of Potts Point, this project represented an exciting opportunity to fully renovate a substantial heritage apartment. Despite the heritage value of the building, little original heritage fabric remained within the apartment itself, enabling a significant redesign of the layout.
Off the primary corridor, a series of separate rooms were opened up to form a large living dining area, with a kitchen and second sitting area at the corner of the apartment. The kitchen and sitting area can be either connected to, or separated from, the main living through an oversized sliding wall panel.
Columns and ceiling outlines were retained as memory markers of the original layout, and cornices and skirtings were restored or replaced with custom matches to the originals.
Running at 90 degrees to the primary corridor, a secondary corridor is retained, with more subtle modifications to incorporate ensuite bathrooms to all 3 bedrooms, and a separate laundry.
The apartment is brought to life through the client’s comprehensive collection of classic furniture, lighting and contemporary artworks.
